Our Inspiration and Journey
Lone Star Non-Profit Development Collaborative was inspired by my experience working alongside non-profit leaders and organizations with powerful missions. Too often, they lacked the infrastructure, resources, or strategic guidance needed to turn their vision into a sustainable organization. I saw first-hand that passion and a strong mission are only part of what it takes to build a successful non-profit.
Organizations also need sound systems, effective leadership, sustainable funding strategies, strong governance, and a clear plan for long-term growth. That realization became the foundation for Lone Star. I wanted to create an organization that could serve as a trusted resource for both emerging and established non-profits, helping leaders navigate non-profit formation and tax-exempt recognition while strengthening organizational infrastructure to operate effectively and create lasting impact.
Making an impact: Nevil Shed’s Legacy Foundation
One of the most meaningful examples of our impact has been our work with Nevil Shed’s Legacy Foundation. This organization was created to carry forward the legacy of Nevil “The Shadow” Shed by investing in young people who may not always have access to consistent mentorship, opportunity, or positive role models.
Through our partnership, we have helped strengthen the foundation’s organizational structure, program development, fundraising strategy, and long-term vision. A major focus has been developing programs for opportunity youth and economically disadvantaged young people that combine mentorship, leadership development, character building, workforce and college readiness, and practical life skills. What makes this work especially meaningful is that the goal extends far beyond providing a single program or service. The foundation is creating a support system where young people can develop confidence, discipline, accountability, leadership, and a stronger sense of purpose.

Our work is guided by the core values of empowerment, integrity, collaboration, equity, accountability, and sustainability. We believe every community has strengths, ideas, and leaders with the potential to create meaningful change, and our role is to help turn that potential into lasting impact. These values shape the way we serve youth, families, and communities by helping nonprofit leaders and community organizations build strong foundations, develop effective programs, secure resources, and create sustainable systems that allow them to serve people more effectively.

Our Vision for the Future
My biggest goal for Lone Star Non-Profit Development Collaborative is to become a resource and catalyst for non-profit growth, helping organizations move beyond simply forming a non-profit to building strong, sustainable institutions that can create lasting community impact.
Over the next few years, I envision Lone Star expanding its reach to support more emerging and established non-profit leaders through comprehensive capacity-building services, including organizational development, strategic planning, fundraising, grant development, board development, and long-term sustainability planning. I also hope to develop training programs, workshops, and resource initiatives that make high-quality nonprofit development support more accessible to organizations that may not have the financial resources or internal expertise to build strong infrastructure on their own.
